Elman Induction

The Newcastle applied hypnosis course delivers two different approaches to hypnosis and several kinds of hypnotic inductions. One of these induction approaches is a direct and can be regarded as authoritarian, this is the Elman Induction .

The Elman induction is as you will see a pretty rapid of inducing a trance state originally from American hypnotist Dave Elman. Shown here is the basic induction followed by a deepening process. The process is quite easy to learn through demonstration and practice.

This particular induction forms the basis of several complete processes taught on the Applied Hypnosis Introduction weekend course here in Newcastle.

Changing Your Perception of Reality

This Newcastle Hypnosis training course will give you many tools to positively change your life.

There is one very important sentiment I want to briefly explore before offering you a self-hypnosis exercise.

Firstly a quote

“Perception is Projection, what we see is the state of our mind projected outwards”

Now I do not currently know who this is attributed to. I was introduced to it by Dr. Christina Hall. It can also be demonstrated a different way, in a short story.

Once there was a wise woman. A seer if you like. A wondering man came to her village and asked “I am looking for a new village to live in and I want to know what this village is like

The seer replied “What was you last village like?

The wondering man replied “Oh it was awful, full of thieves, robbers and adulterers. The most frightful sort of people you can imagine.”

The seer replied “My friend this village is much like you last one full of the most frightful people you can imagine.

The wondering man left and went on to look for another village.

A day or two later another wondering man came to the village and asked the seer “I am looking for a new village to live in and I want to know what this village is like.

The seer replied “What was you last village like?

The wondering man replied “Oh it was wonderful, full of friendly and helpful loving people to say the least.”

The seer replied “My friend this village is much like you last one full of the most loving people you can imagine.

The wondering man decided to stay and made a home for himself.

Another way of saying this is what the mind expects tends to be found. Hypnosis is a way of purposefully altering our own perceptions in powerful ways.

Here is the exercise. This comes from Victor Sanchez, A Toltec mystic. Its about purposefully altering our perceptions, this is just one way hypnosis, a altered state of perception can be attained.

This exercise takes 15 minutes to do it properly. Practice once per day for just one week.

  1. Find a bush or shrub that you can see, that is both in shade and in the light.
  2. Concentrate your visual attention on just one specific spot that is in the shade. Focus on it entirely.
  3. For the next 15 minutes focus just on that one spot in the shade - until you begin to see a bush that is entirely made out of shadow. Notice that the shadow is at least 50% of the bush.

You need to do this in the form of an exercise. A ‘theoretical’ knowledge of this is not enough.

If you want to learn to alter your perceptions and reality - DO THE EXERCISE!

When you do this you will experience massive changes in your perception. This exercise is actually doing a huge amount of things - you will only notice what these are by doing the exercises …

What is Hypnosis?

Succinctly hypnosis is the concentration and focusing of attention to manifest a desired result.

Desired results could be relaxation, healing or creating powerful motivations.

Hypnosis in more depth

Hypnosis or trance is a very common occurrence. We live our lives in one trance or another. Commonly these are the times when our attention is focused on something. Examples of this are the infamous driving trance. You get in the car and drive. You drive from A to C but has little or no memory of the journey in between. This is commonly known as the ‘The Driving Trance’

One of the best example of trance is children or adults playing and having fun, those times when we are totally engrossed in experience and are NOT analysing or second guessing what we do.

Another example is watching the TV or a film that is totally engrossing. Someone can talk to you and you don’t consciously hear it, all your attention is on what you are watching.

Think on this; as you read this sentence you absolutely do not, process each letter or often even each word in a conscious way, you simply understand and process, unconsciously, and you get the complete meaning of the sentence.

Trance is like that. There is deep understanding but the individual elements are understood outside of conscious awareness. You get the whole meaning.

Trance is like a meditative state, where new learnings and realities become possible. Trance gets our conscious mind out of the way and opens up new possibilities and experiences.

Trance is a completely natural phenomenon

Surprise! We all do all of this trance stuff naturally, its like day dreaming, its like getting in touch with your soul, its like those so called and elusive moments of clarity you occasionally have in every day life.

The real skill of a hypnotist, a trance engineer if you will, is to create the experiences where ‘normality’ breaks down, to create a sort of waking dream that changes lives in a very positive way.

And the best thing about this way of thinking, being and doing is…

IT IS COMPLETELY LEARNABLE.

Anyone, you included, can learn to do this.

You certainly can learn through books and videos but there is nothing that compares to real training from experienced and competent professionals.

But beware, the reality is hypnosis or trance is not a magical answer to life’s problems and aspirations. Sorry but this is the truth. Hypnosis and snake oil do not mix well.

It is a very real way of actualising what you really want out of life. Yet it usually wont happen overnight. It takes just a little time, a natural progression.

Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness, it is a very simple way of getting on better with yourself and others, but most, and most importantly of all, it is something you control and make happen yourself.
